A walking stick or guide dog may not be enough to help the visually impaired to dodge an accident due to collisions and obstacles. Other navigation aids which provide precise assistance are difficult to use and cost prohibitive. That leads to the creation of I-Sonar, an obstacle warning device for the visually impaired employing ultrasonic sound waves to detect obstacles and sending out a vibrating alert ahead of the collisions. Testing with the visually impaired has found that it significantly reduces the rate of collision with obstacles with high accuracy in a compact size and easy to use.
