WHOLE BLOOD REFERENCE MATERIAL FOR BLOOD GLUCOSE TESTING BY GLUCOSE METER

Researchers of Naresuan University have created a material that resembles human blood, which stabilizes glucose levels in whole blood material for six months. It can be used as an analytical quality control reference material for selecting portable blood glucose monitors or glucose meters in hospitals, in compliance with the 2015 National Guidelines for Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) by the Ministry of Public Health Thailand.

Since the whole blood material cannot be produced in Thailand, they are sourced and imported from Europe or America. WE MED LAB CENTER Co., Ltd. (formally known as NU MED LAB CENTER Co., Ltd) has introduced processes that utilize leftover blood from blood banks as the main raw material (patent application no. 1401002618, dated April 30, 2014). The product was successfully created at the company's laboratory facility and followed by a research lab to industrial-scale production scale-up.
